後來，因為一個駐村的機會，我來到海邊居住。秋天的海邊少了戲水的人們，岸邊惟有隨風浪起舞的沙、草，與緊緊攀附卻又時常翻滾的石頭。我和他們相仿，只能緊抓著自己的衣領，緩步沿著海岸移動。相較於河流，海是那樣遼闊，沒有盡頭又無法跨越。原先計畫是觀察和紀錄自己在不同環境條件下的身心理變化，但在那日夜臨海的一個月之中，其實更多的時刻是，面對個人作為環境裡的個人這樣的事實罷了。或許在這短暫的居住經驗中，我只是來不及理解那些變化與異同。海岸邊，迎著強勁海風的樹木，拾起時而潤澤的石子，生活起居隨日照規律地升起和落下，每日所見，除了光所到之處，再也沒有其他了。
